Why is Jesus called the cornerstone? In ancient times, there were no bricks, much less concrete. Buildings were made with stones, placed one on top of the other, in rough and different shapes, most of the time. These differences became serious problems when it was necessary to join walls and/or close arches. The cornerstones were the specially shaped stones that fit perfectly in the spaces (empty) between walls and two incomplete arches. In addition to being responsible for joining different parts of a work, the cornerstones served as a base of safety and support. Without these strategically placed cornerstones, the work would certainly collapse... Now it's easy to answer! Yes! Jesus is the cornerstone that unites (or reunites) two completely different natures: ours (sinful) and God's (holy). Jesus is the cornerstone because without Him, no work remains erected for long; Jesus is the cornerstone because He is the only path that leads to the Father...! May God bless us!
